Long-time Apple hacker George Hotz is ahead of the iPhone Dev Team, having released the purplera1n tool, which is not unlocking the iPhone 3Gs but at least capable of jailbreaking it by allowing the iPhone 3GS to install unofficial 3rd party applications.
The purplera1n jailbreak tool is only available for Windows users, can be used to jailbreak iPhone 3GS that runs the OS 3.0 and the process of doing it is pretty straightforward as follows:
Connect your iPhone normally. Click “make it ra1n”. Wait. On bootup, run Freeze, the purplera1n installer app.
The tool is still in BETA, so you’d better backup your iPhone before attempting it. Hotz disagrees the approach that the iPhone Dev Team takes for their their own ultrasn0w unlock/jailbreak, which is they will only address the iPhone 3GS until OS 3.1 is generally released, so Apple will not have time to close off the loophole which their tool takes advantage of. Hotz feels that they should not wait, his approach is when Apple has released a patch for a known loophole, he’ll then continue to find the next loophole.

We’ve seen the spoon-feeding robot, but now comes the Chewing robot. My first guess was the Chewing Robot could probably be chewing the food on behalf of the laziest butt on earth. But nope, the chewing robot was made by researchers for the sake of helping understand and study deeply the dental structures and wears of the human teeth.
The Chewing Robot was developed by the researchers from the University of Bristol’s Department of Mechanical Engineering in collaboration with the Department of Oral and Dental Science. This robot will be used to test dental materials, so dentist can experiment with many new materials before making them into the human jaw.
The Chewing robot is based on 3D mechanism with six linear actuators reproducing motion and force sustained by teeth, it actually replicates the human jaw to the fullest. This robot serves as a chewing simulator that lets dentists try out all possible elements and test them to perfection.
The Chewing Robot is currently on exhibition at the ongoing Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition (June 30 to Jul 04). This is definitely a helpful robot to ensure dentists can test all the possible materials and ensure that no wrong materials to go into our mouth that may break our jaws.

The DuoSense touchscreen controller was created by the team-up between Fujitsu and N-Trig. This touchscreen controller offers highly sensitive multi-touch capabilities that can respond to 10 or more touch points simulteneously at very high refresh rates.
The DuoSense touchscreen controller also uses capacitive touch, making it possible to use both stylus and fingers on its touchscreen. The DuoSense is pretty thin, there are some electronics that needed to run the DuoSense are tucked around the edge of the frame. To use the DuoSense, you just need to place it on top of the screen of your computer, so your computer will then have the multi-touch touchscreen capability.
This technology is especially good for the Windows 7 OS launches in August and comes with the native multi-touch support built into the OS. Simply add the DuoSense touchscreen to a tablet or netbook that runs Windows 7 and you’ll get to enjoy the multi-touch features on Windows 7. The following clip shows the previous model of DuoSense and how it works.
